Making of Creative Coffee
My name is Diego Querol, I am 3D Artist from Spain and I want to share one scene I have made during my free time.
In the scene I wanted to pay special attention in texturing and lighting, also trying to get a nice interior design.
I am so glad to have the chance to share with you this making of and also the opportunity to have an article in this excellent site.

References
I based my scene in the Hatched Project by Outofstock, taking from it some architectural and furniture details. Then I tried to make my own interior design keeping the space distribution and also adding some extra furniture from my library.

Modeling
The architectural model is pretty simple, but I always like to go through small details which make the space much more real and interesting.
Also the furniture is pretty basic, using chamfered boxes and some library models such like Tolix Chair and Stool.






Texturing
Texturing has been the real challenge of this project, and would like to share some of my most important materials of the scene, such us floor concrete, wood paneling, brick wall and scratched metals.





Lighting
For the lighting I have used the typical VraySky linked to the VraySun with Vray Skylight Portals in the windows, and some vraylights for the bulbs and recessed lights.
The VraySun is pretty big as you can see in the image, this makes nice soft shadows but we must increase our subdivisions in the VraySun to avoid the noise. This will affect our rendering time so we will have to be careful with our material settings. The intensity is quite important too, I like really small sun intensity values, this let us a better control of the environment.

Camera Settings
Camera settings are pretty basic too, having on mind this is an interior I have set F-number to 4 then I have adjusted my overall light with the ISO to 150.
At this point I had pretty good balance between shadows, reflections and highlights. The last step is just to adjust my exposure with the shutter speed, 60 was pretty good value.
I like to use Vray Frame Buffer and Exponential Color Mapping for interiors, this let me control in a better way the contrast and burning on the raw render.

I like to use Vray Frame Buffer and Exponential Color Mapping Gamma 2,2 for interiors, this let me control in a better way the contrast and burning on the raw render.



Postproduction
For post work I like to use the Render elements from Vray. I like best the RAW (reflection, refraction, totalighting, shadows, lighting…) ones, blending them with soft light in Photoshop.
